Genesis is our vibrant young adults’ programme (post school to 30) and was designed to provide the young adults with a platform with which to experience and express their faith, with, and among their peers and within the greater parish community.
In existence since 2003, it is led by a team of young adults, is event driven and has four key pillars and three support pillars, each providing a series of events aimed at bringing young adults to a real and deeper encounter with Christ.
The programme has four main pillars (Spirituality, Service, Knowledge & Friendship) and three support pillars (Music, Marketing & Finance) with a pillar leader and sub-committee for each.
This pillar runs spiritual events and activities including Genesis Adore (adoration), Genesis masses, rosary, worship events, retreats, Alpha, prayer initiatives and, Stations of the Cross, often on Lions Head.
This pillar runs service and outreach events including the Umoya project (Sisters of Charity Kayalitsha), Simunye (homeless outreach) and Spread love (sandwich making) as well as participating in the annual St Kazito’s Christmas party and Easter drive.
This pillar runs regular knowledge events, which in the past have included True Beauty and Strength and Theology on Tap (hot topics presented in a local pub).
While all Genesis events involve friendship as relationship’s develop, this pillar runs additional friendship events during the year.
